Viral Movie Distribution via Widgetbox What is Widgetbox?
This widget can be added by anyone to their own webpages by clicking the "Get Widget" button found beneath the widget. This allows you to dramatically expand your distribution through fans of the film. You can automatically generate a Widgetbox distribution web widget for any of your titles from the "Deploy" tab of your account Dashboard. If you choose to design your own custom Widgetbox widget from scratch, follow the tutorial below.
Widgetbox allows you to build widgets in many different formats including Flash, HTML/Javascript or Web Page. The Adi & J movie distribution widget above was build using the "Web Page" option. This allowed the designer to simply build a standard html webpage for how the widget should look and then have Widgetbox turn it into a widget that people can add to their own webpages. The actual webpage used for the widget is hosted by the designer allowing for changes to be made at anytime that automatically update everyone's widget. Step One: Design a web page for your widget. If you would like a jump-start, Download the example HTML page used for the widget above. Once downloaded, you can use it as a starting point. The example HTML has comments in the source code for where to add your Validation Script and Functionality API code. Download the Example HTML page here Step Two: Once you've completed designing your widget, upload it to your web host. Step Three: Head over to Widgetbox to turn the webpage into a widget. The link to get started is here. Click the "Web Page" option and simply add the name of your widget and the url to the widget page you have designed and uploaded to your server. Then click "Continue".
Step Four: Add the widget's dimensions. If you are using the example html, the widget size is 430px Width and 331px Height. Once the size has been added, Click "Publish Changes".
Step Five: Widgetbox has many other options and features to customize your widget. Continue tweaking till you are ready to Publish your widget. |
